Kewalo Uka

In March we will learn a hula to celebrate some of the Hawaiian Home Lands established by Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole in 1921, almost 100 years ago! This newly composed mele, by Kumu Kahanuola Solatorio of Keauhou, speaks of three homesteads on the island of Oʻahu: Kewalo Uka, Papakōlea, and Kalāwahine.

We are also very excited to be welcoming the composer, our hoa pili, Kumu Kahanu to share a bit about his home and his mele during one of our classes! Stay tuned for more info.
